Course overview
Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic. You talk to it in plain language, and it can write, explain, summarise, analyse documents and images, and write and fix code.
This course shows you, step by step, what you can actually do with Claude: from everyday writing and studying to research, working with PDFs and spreadsheets, making small apps and web pages, and using Claude Code to build real software.
By the end you'll know how to get reliable, high-quality answers from Claude, which feature to use for which job, and how to check its work so you can use it with confidence at college and at work.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
- Set up a Claude account and find your way around the chat, Projects and settings
- Write clear prompts that get accurate, well-structured answers the first time
- Use Claude to write and edit emails, reports, resumes, essays and social media posts
- Study faster: get concepts explained at your level, make notes, and practise with quizzes
- Upload PDFs, images and spreadsheets and ask Claude to summarise, compare and analyse them

1. Getting Started with Claude
What Claude is, who makes it, the Claude models, and a tour of the app on web, desktop and phone.
2. Prompting Claude Well
Giving context, a role, examples and a clear format; asking follow-up questions; and improving answers step by step.
3. Writing and Communication
Drafting and polishing emails, letters, reports, resumes, cover letters, blog and social media posts in your own voice.
4. Studying and Learning with Claude
Explaining hard topics simply, solving problems step by step, making notes and flashcards, and quizzing yourself.
5. Working with Files: PDFs, Images and Data
Uploading documents, photos and spreadsheets, then summarising, comparing, extracting tables and finding insights.
6. Research and Web Search
Using Claude to research a topic, gather sources, compare options and turn findings into a short report.
7. Creating with Claude: PPT, PDF, Posters, Session Plans and E-Notes
Making PowerPoint slides, PDF documents, poster designs, teaching session plans and e-notes, and keeping your work together in Projects.
8. Building a Website and Mobile App with Claude
Writing, explaining and fixing code, then using Artifacts and Claude Code to build a real website and a simple mobile app.
9. Claude at Work: Connectors and the API
Connecting Claude to tools like Google Drive and Gmail, and a gentle introduction to the Claude API for building your own apps.
10. Responsible Use and Final Assessment
Checking answers, avoiding mistakes, privacy and academic honesty, then a capstone project and the final quiz.

- No coding experience required, the coding module starts from the basics
- Comfortable using a web browser and everyday apps
- A free Claude account (we help you set it up in module 1)
- A laptop or computer is recommended for the Claude Code module
